In the past, audio was primarily Hardware<\/b><\/span>. The classic radio stood in the living room, in the kitchen or in the workshop. Tune the frequency, adjust the aerial, control the volume \u2013 and listen. Record players, cassette decks, tape machines and later CD players made audio something tangible. Devices had switches, controls and displays. Anyone who produced worked with mixing desks, magnetic tapes and clearly defined signal paths.<\/p>

Today, audio is increasingly Software, platform and data stream<\/b><\/span>. Smartphones, smart speakers, networked sound systems and cloud applications have replaced the standalone audio device with a digital ecosystem. Content is streamed, personalised, played back automatically and made available on a wide variety of end devices.<\/p>

AI doesn't just change the device \u2013 it changes the entire workflow<\/b><\/span><\/h3>

Artificial intelligence marks the beginning of the next shift. While digitalisation initially transferred analogue work steps into software, AI can now independently take over or accelerate parts of the audio workflow.<\/p>

An idea can turn into a script. Text becomes a synthetic voice. Music, sound design and different variants of an audio spot can be generated automatically. Metadata helps to categorise content and make it discoverable. Data in turn can determine, which audio version is played out when, where and for which target audience<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>

This also changes the role of humans in the audio workflow. Instead of carrying out every single production step manually, selection, control and quality control are becoming more important.<\/p>
